Sometimes the buttons that Déjà Vu adds to the ribbons in Word, Excel and PowerPoint are not available. This means that the add-ins that Déjà Vu install are not working, or they are not enabled.
This can happen if you install Déjà Vu with one user account but use it with another, e.g. in an office environment the Administrator install Déjà Vu but then a normal user uses it. Given the way Office handles add-ins it is impossible to guarantee that the Déjà Vu installer will make the add-ins available to every user.
How to enable the Déjà Vu Office add-ins
Where to find the right files
The Déjà Vu installer copies 3 files to 3 specific folders. The table below shows the correct locations of these files (<user name> stands for your Windows user account name):
Windows XP | Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 |
What to do with the files
If the installation was done by a different user account, you may find these files in the corresponding folders for that user. For example, if the installation was done by the Administrator, the file ConvertEmbeddedObjects.dotm may be located in the folder C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP. You can find the files in these other folders, and copy them to the right folders for your own user account.
You can also download them directly, and then copy them to the right folders.
If that doesn't work
If, after following the procedure described above, you still do not see the Déjà Vu X2 section in the ribbons in Word, Excel or PowerPoint, you can install the Déjà Vu's Office add-ins manually.
