Asian characters are not displayed correctly in the translation grid

The font must have support for the encoding scheme needed to display the language. Otherwise, Déjà Vu X2 will not be able to display text correctly with this font.

This can happen if the font you have assigned to display text in a particular East Asian language does not support the character set used by that language. If you are using a version of Windows older that Vista, you may need to install support for these languages in Windows as well.

The simplest solution to this problem is to assign a font that supports the full Unicode character set, e.g. Arial:

  1. Access the menu option Tools>Options>Display.
  2. Select the language you need to assign a new font to.
  3. Click on Change.
  4. Select a new font.
  5. Click OK.

It is also possible to assign a font that supports a more limited character set and specify the encoding that the font should be applied to, in order to let Déjà Vu X2 know how the font must be used with a particular language:

  1. Access the menu option Tools>Options>Display.
  2. Select the language you need to assign a new font to.
  3. Click on Change.
  4. Select the new font you want.
  5. Click on the combo box called Script and select an encoding appropriate for the languagenote.
  6. Click OK.
