System Requirements
To install TEAMserver, your system must meet the operating system requirements described in this section. Depending on the version of Microsoft SQL Server that you choose to use with TEAMserver, more restrictive requirements may apply.
Software Requirements
You can install TEAMserver on a server that is running one of the following operating systems:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2
- Microsoft Windows Server 2012
- Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2
- Microsoft Windows Server 2016
- Microsoft Windows Server 2019
You can also install TEAMserver on a client computer that is running one of the following operating systems:
- Microsoft XP Professional
- Microsoft Windows Vista
- Microsoft Windows 7
- Microsoft Windows 8
- Microsoft Windows 10
Note: Client operating systems are limited in the number of incoming connections, and are therefore only suitable for test deployments or for very small teams of translators.
The TEAMserver requires Microsoft SQL Server for its database. The following versions are supported:
- Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (Standard or Enterprise Edition)
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (Standard or Enterprise Edition)
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 (Standard, Web or Enterprise Edition)
- Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (Standard, Web or Enterprise Edition)

- Microsoft SQL Server 2016 (Standard, Web or Enterprise Edition)
- Microsoft SQL Server 2019 (Standard, Web or Enterprise Edition)
Hardware Recommendations
Depending on the number of users who will be connecting to the TEAMserver, you may require more or less powerful hardware. Additionally, when planning a TEAMserver deployment to serve a large number of users, it is recommended that you consider installing TEAMserver and SQL Server on separate servers.
The following table offers some guidelines regarding the recommended hardware for different numbers of users for a single server deployment:
Number of simultaneous users | CPU | Disk size | RAM |
1 to 5 | 1 logical processor, 2.4 GHz | 120 GB | 4 GB |
6 to 10 | 2 logical processors, 2.4 GHz | 250 GB | 8 GB |
11 to 20 | 4 logical processors, 2.4 GHz | 500 GB | 24 GB |
21 to 50 | 8 logical processors, 2.4 GHz | 1 TB | 48 GB |
The following table offers some guidelines regarding the recommended hardware for different numbers of users for a dual-server deployment:
Number of simultaneous users | CPU | Disk size | RAM
TEAMserver | SQL Server | TEAMserver | SQL Server | TEAMserver | SQL Server
1 to 5 | 1 logical processor, 2.4 GHz | 1 logical processor, 2.4 GHz | 20 GB | 120 GB | 2 GB | 4 GB |
6 to 10 | 2 logical processors, 2.4 GHz | 2 logical processors, 2.4 GHz | 20 GB | 250 GB | 4 GB | 8 GB |
11 to 20 | 4 logical processors, 2.4 GHz | 4 logical processors, 2.4 GHz | 20 GB | 500 GB | 8 GB | 16 GB |
21 to 50 | 4 logical processors, 2.4 GHz | 8 logical processors, 2.4 GHz | 20 GB | 1 TB | 16 GB | 32 GB |
More than 50 | 4 logical processors, 2.4 GHz | 16 logical processors, 2.4 GHz | 20 GB | 2 TB | 16 GB | 64 GB |
Firewall Configuration
By default, the TEAMserver uses the following ports for the services it offers:
- For HTTP access: port 80.
- For HTTP access (optional): port 443.
- For Binary TCP protocol: port 1846
These ports must not be blocked by your firewall.
