This error message appears because the Active Bar component that Déjà Vu X uses is not properly registered with Windows. This is often caused by an antivirus or other security software blocking the registration of the component during the installation of Déjà Vu X. The quickest way to solve this problem is to register it manually. T do so:
- Open the Run dialog. Either:
- Open the Windows Start Menu and click on Run.
- Or press the key combination +R.
- In the dialog box that appears, paste this text:
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Data Dynamics\ActiveBar2\ActBar2.ocx" - Make sure to include the quatation marks.
- Press Enter.
If, after this, Déjà Vu X keeps giving the same error message, manually unregister the file mscomct2.ocx:
- Open the Run dialog. Either:
- Open the Windows Start Menu and click on Run.
- Or press the key combination +R.
- In the dialog box that appears, paste this text:
regsvr32 –u mscomct2.ocx - Press Enter.
If, after this, Déjà Vu X still cannot start, reinstalling the software will be necessary. Before doing so, make sure to deactivate any antivirus, spyware removers or registry cleaners that you may have running on your computer.
